Redgage Launches New Service That Pays You for Your Online Content & Activity

New Web site gives people opportunity to make money for creating content and using services like Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, WordPress and Blogger

HOLLYWOOD, Fla., June 4 // -- RedGage (http://www.redgage.com), a new Web site that pays people for their online content and monetizes their social activity, today announced the launch of its public beta. RedGage is a centralized hub where users can earn money for content they create - as well as past activity - on sites like Flickr, Blogger, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The site aggregates content automatically from popular websites and pays users a dollar value based on the quality of their work, which is measured by page views and popularity.

"Most people don't realize that there is inherent economic value in what they're creating online. It's no secret that someone is making money; but, people like me, who spend time producing content, don't usually share in any of the revenue from the companies who own the platforms," said Daniel Redlich, CEO of RedGage. "That's why we built a system that gives money back to the creators. Web 2.0 democratized the distribution of content; RedGage is democratizing the monetization of content."

For the first time, by using RedGage, people are able to manage their online blogs, photos, videos, documents and links in a single location, and have the opportunity to get paid for their content. What's more, RedGage maximizes the amount of potential money earned by enabling users to broadcast their activity to friends on popular social sites like Twitter and Facebook, in order to increase the number of views their content receives.

For those managing several social media accounts, RedGage provides a one-stop destination that will automatically import their new content, so no manual work is required to earn money. Users can create a centralized web identity and a comprehensive portfolio of content that can be searched by them, their friends and others.

Additionally, for those interested in discovering new and interesting content, RedGage serves as a central place to read, view and follow new people and new topics - from freelance writers and professional photographers, to artists and business executives, people are sharing a wide range of content on RedGage and getting paid for it.

"We wanted to make it convenient for our users to receive the money they earn on RedGage, so we developed an innovative way to distribute payments," added Redlich. "Upon reaching $25 in revenue, we will mail them a RedGage Visa debit card, which is redeemable worldwide anywhere that Visa is accepted. From then on, new earned funds will be electronically transferred on to the cards."

Beach Bum Managers Sink American Productivity

CHICAGO, Aug. 13 // -- Corporate America beware: beach bums may not just be soaking up surf and sun this summer. They may be ineffective managers silently sinking your organization's productivity.

A new study of 154 companies conducted by Harris Interactive found that only 3 out of every 10 managers are strategic. But the need for strategic leaders was recently evidenced by research from CEO Magazine showing that strategic thinking is the #1 most valued skill in leaders today.

In his newly released book, Deep Dive: The Proven Method for Building Strategy, Focusing your Resources and Taking Smart Action (Greenleaf, August, 2009), Professor Rich Horwath classifies managers as one of four types of strategic thinkers:

Beach Bums: This type of manager sits around wasting their time and other's time. On average 9% of managers are Beach Bums.

Snorkelers: These managers are only able to skim the surface of business issues, offering reactive, short-term, tactical fixes. Research shows that 26% of managers are Snorkelers.

Scuba Divers: This type of manager can produce solutions but requires instruction and assistance to do so. Only 32% of managers are classified as Scuba Divers.

Free Divers: These are the strategic leaders that are able to continuously come up with the big ideas that move the business forward. On average, only three of every ten managers are Free Divers.

In order for managers to become strategic leaders for their organization, Horwath suggests they follow the three A's of strategy:

Acumen--new growth comes from new thinking. Use business models to visualize new ideas that generate solutions to your most pressing issues.

Allocation--success depends as much on what a manager chooses not to do as it does on what they do. Create a "not-to-do" list that identifies where you won't spend your time and talents, allowing greater focus on the important areas.

Action--build the discipline to focus on your important business issues, not just the emails popping up on your Blackberry. Design a 1-2 page blueprint that outlines your action plan and keeps you from drifting off course during the year.

With summer coming to a close, how many beach bums are seeking shade in your cubicles?

Company Shows Accelerated Momentum as Book Publishing Transforms and Consumer Demand Continues to Shift Towards Personalized and Customized Content

New Products and Technology Enhancements Announced

NEW YORK, May 4 // -- SharedBook Inc., the Custom Publishing Platform provider, today celebrates its five year anniversary with significant momentum in all metrics including business performance, customer growth with leading publishing brands, and the recent unveiling of multiple new product and technology enhancements across its portfolio of customized and personalized book offerings.

"In this economic environment, content owners are laser-focused on ways to drive new revenue streams, reduce costs, and speed time to market. In parallel, consumer spending is shifting away from commodity products to more lasting and meaningful, value-added offerings," said Caroline Vanderlip, Chief Executive Officer of SharedBook. "SharedBook is at the heart of this transformation as we create new business models that help change the economics of the publishing business. We've created a technology platform that changes the entire model of how a book gets created, published and delivered to customers, while addressing the shifting consumer demand for more personalized and on-demand content."

In the past year the company has doubled its customer base to now serve more than 45 leading content brands and publishers. In business performance, SharedBook experienced 60 percent year-over-year revenue growth in 2008. Its book unit volumes have increased a whopping 70 percent and order volume is up by 56 percent. Other business milestones include:

  • Today the company announces its first affiliate program for both its Blog2Print platform and its book personalization web site, Inscribe-it.com (more information on both is below). Through this exclusive program, web sites can link to these SharedBook platforms and earn revenue from purchases. Initial affiliates include FirstBook.org, grandparents.com, ClassBrain.com, kidmondo.com, and scrappingsimply.com.

  • The latest two agreements include a partnership with Thomas Nelson, the largest Christian publisher in the country, to deliver personalized books with expansion into customized product offerings. Learn2Grow, a leading online gardening community resource, will be launching with SharedBook to enable gardening aficionados to create their own customized gardening books.

  • In April, SharedBook unveiled its patented annotation technology platform with Our Energy Policy Foundation, a new online initiative for the nation's energy policy leaders. Using SharedBook's contextual annotation Our Energy Policy Foundation aims to enhance the development of U.S. energy policy through discussion by experts in the field from industry, academia, non-profit organizations, government, and elsewhere.

  • In March, SharedBook launched its newly enhanced book personalization Web site, Inscribe-it.com, to offer books with customized inscriptions, special messages and even photographs, with advanced features to personalize books for all occasions.

  • In February, SharedBook launched its Smart Button technology, with implementations with longtime partner Legacy.com and new partners Encyclopaedia Britannica and SOHO Publishing. Smart Button is a streamlined implementation of the SharedBook platform that allows partners to apply SharedBook's customized creation capabilities with minimal resource application and maximum flexibility, delivering new revenue sources.

  • Recently, SharedBook expanded its Blog2Print platform for anyone who has ever wished to have a permanent copy of a favorite blog. With the Blog2Print platform, users of all three major consumer services, Google's Blogger, WordPress and Six Apart's TypePad, are now able to create well-formatted books of their blogs.

"SharedBook is demonstrating significant company growth and success as we celebrate our fifth anniversary. We are capitalizing on the economic environment by enabling content owners to capture new revenue without substantial additional investment. This is an exciting time to be part of the fast-changing publishing marketplace and to be helping both traditional publishers and content library owners embrace new business models in the digital era," added Caroline Vanderlip.
