Corporate Voices for Working Families Board of Trustees Elects Donna Klein Executive Chair

WASHINGTON, April 21 /-USNewswire/ -- Donna Klein, President and Founder of Corporate Voices for Working Families, has been elected Executive Chair by the Board of Trustees.

As Executive Chair, Klein's responsibilities will include continuing to oversee the development of the organization's long-term strategy; developing and maintaining strategic relationships with foundations, corporations and advocacy organizations; fundraising; working with the Board and senior management on the implementation of research and advocacy initiatives; and continuing her involvement with Corporate Voices' day-to-day operation and management.

She will assume her new role at Corporate Voices June 1, for a period of at least three years.

"As Corporate Voices continues to grow and expand the scope of its work, we're delighted that Donna has agreed to focus her experience and skills on a broad range of senior-level responsibilities in concert with our Board," Alice Campbell, Senior Director, Community Relations & Work/Life, Baxter International Inc., and Secretary of the Corporate Voices for Working Families Board of Trustees, said.

"In conjunction with Klein's election as Executive Chair, the Board for the past six months has been engaged in a robust review of Corporate Voices' day-to-day strategic management as part of a plan to identify candidates for the position of President," Campbell said. "Our goal is to hire a President who combines decades of extensive senior-level business management experience and leadership with a passion for improving the lives of working families and the competitiveness of American businesses."

She said the Board expects to announce the hiring of a President this fall. In the interim, Klein will continue in that role as well as taking on the responsibilities as Executive Chair.

"I am looking forward to my new role as Executive Chair with Corporate Voices and the continuation of my many relationships with our partner companies, strategic outreach organizations and funding partners," Klein said. "Corporate Voices has an excellent opportunity to build on our many accomplishments and advance our research and advocacy on behalf of working families and American businesses."

Prior to founding Corporate Voices for Working Families in 2001, Donna Klein was Vice President of Workplace Effectiveness at Marriott International, Inc., Washington, D.C., for 20 years. While at Marriott, she guided the strategic formation, implementation and management of corporate-wide diversity and work-life initiatives, including initiating Marriott's award-winning Women's Leadership Initiative.

Klein has also served as Chair of The Conference Board's Work/Life Leadership Council and as a member of The Conference Board's Diversity Council. She is also a member of the Board for Boston College's Center for Corporate Citizenship; the Advisory Board of Bright Horizons Family Solutions, Boston, Mass.; and the CICK Advisory Board. She is a Board of Trustee member of America's Promise.
