MaiMai News - SAN ANTONIO, TX, November 23, 2007 - Pixdle.com maintains 1000 megapixel images on its website on which it allows advertisers to place image advertisements. Pixdle's goal is to fill all one billion pixels. To show what one billion pixels looks like and to visually communicate its progress, Pixdle has released a fully zoomable one billion pixel (or one gigapixel) image compilation of all 1000 megapixel images.
The gigapixel image reveals just how much space there is to be filled. To date, Pixdle has filled over two million pixels, twice that of the MillionDollarHomepage.com. Even with its early success, the 2 million pixels are barely noticeable on the full gigapixel image which brings to light the long journey ahead for Pixdle. The image should make it much easier to track Pixdle's progress as it continues on it journey to fill the billion, a capability that Pixdle hopes will make the website more successful in the long run. The gigapixel image can be seen on Pixdle at http://www.pixdle.com/main/zoomify.php.
Pixdle.com is loosely based off of the MillionDollarHomepage.com which became well-known in the latter part of 2005 for selling one million pixels worth of advertising space. Pixdle differs from its predecessor in that it provides 1000 times more space, a fully automated publishing and editing system, search capabilities, an ad delivery system, and multiple cash rewards totaling over 27 million dollars for its users and advertisers.
