A New Interactive Mystery Series That Encourages Children And Keeps Them Interested In Reading

    BYRON, MI, October 23, 2009 MaiMai News -- The Crypto-Capers Series is an interactive mystery series for children between the ages of 8-13. In order for the reader to solve the case they must solve cryptograms and puzzles, so the reader is actually a part of the story solving the case which is unique to the market in so many ways. Readers are not just reading the books, there are actually participating in them which teachers, parents and librarians alike, will love. The Crypto-Capers Series is a new way to get children involved with what they are reading as well as having them work on various skills such as reading comprehension, critical thinking, spelling and vocabulary. Currently released in the series is book 1, The Crypto-Capers in: The Case of the Missing Sock. In this story siblings Max and Mia Holmes, along with their good friend Morris, and their flamboyant Granny Holmes, are known as The Crypto-Capers. They are a group of detectives who unravel crimes by solving cryptograms that criminals leave behind. Mia is an expert puzzle solver. Max is great at deduction and reasoning. Morris is a computer genius, while Granny...well Granny is the muscle of the group. Don't let her size or age fool you....she is quite handy. The stolen items are an antique sock and Prada sunglasses. The Case of The Missing Sock leads the Crypto-Capers to Florida where they are hired by a man named Mr. Delacomb. The mystery leads the team to different locations. Clues flourish throughout the mystery. Suspects by the handful seem to be popping up at every turn, but who committed the crime? The reader must help the detectives solve the case by solving the cryptograms and puzzles.

Book 1 explains to the reader what a cryptogram is and how the reader has to use it. It is also the easiest book of the series because it gives the reader everything they need to be successful, building confidence and success. With that being said, each book in the series there after is harder and more challenging for the reader. More that the reader must be involved in.

In book 2, The Crypto-Capers in: The Case of Red Rock Canyon, the story leads the team to Las Vegas, Nevada, where they are thrown into the dramatic world of theater to solve a mystery. A week before the opening night of one of the most talked about plays on the Strip. It�s main attraction�a one-of-a-kind Orchid Ruby Necklace�goes missing. The detectives soon become ensnared in a plot that could destroy them all. They must sift through the clues to figure out what is truth, and what are lies. One of their lives will be in the balance. Can they be saved? Only the reader can control the answer to that question. They must join the Crypto-Capers on their adventure of self discovery and courage.

Book 3 of the series, The Crypto-Capers in: The Legend of the Golden Monkey, has just been released. This story leads the Crypto-Capers to the ancient ruins of Chichen Itza, a once flourishing Mayan city where secrets abound. Sent to the Riviera Maya on the request of a friend, the Crypto-Capers find themselves on a treasure hunt smack dab in the center of Chichen Itza�s archeological park. Upon realizing the Panther�s involvement, their nemesis, the Crypto-Capers immediately agree to find ways to sabotage his efforts of finding the treasure first. But they find more questions than answers, and more clues. Are they being led astray? Or does the truth run so deep that it cannot be believed? The Crypto-Capers must believe in themselves and have faith in their new friends to help them find the items needed to open the treasure room and finally bring closure to an archeologist�s life, a man whose history is tied to the Golden Monkey.
