MaiMai News - October 13, 2006 - The blogging community has acted swiftly to try and keep US gamers in touch with what is happening since the recent gambling ban. There is a lot of sketchiness about what exactly is happening and some of the major players have already declared they are no longer accepting US players.
When George W. Bush signs it into law will that spell the end for US gamblers?
The general consensus seems to be that it won't, and although Party Poker and a few others have stopped US players from joining, many more have issued statements saying they will continue.
One blog which is taking the fight on is http://unitedstakesofpoker.blogspot.com . It has a list of US-accepting sites plus other info.
The owner of this blog, Joey Deakin, commented recently, " This absolutely does NOT spell the end for Poker players in the US. I predict you will see a few shut down, but there's enough offshore sites which will keep the game going for everyone."
He predicts "Poker sites will already be looking into lots of different ways to keep their gravy train rolling. There's too much money to be lost to just give up."
Whatever happens though, you can be sure that they will not get away from this without a fight.
There has even been a Poker Players Allaince set up which already has thousands of members.
Information on this can be found on the United States of Poker blog.
