MaiMai News - VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA, January 16, 2008 - Snoring may seem to simply be an annoyance that only bothers the one snoring and anyone within earshot. This couldn't be further from the truth. Airway blockage is known to be the root cause of all snoring problems. This lack of oxygen to the brain has a number of detrimental side effects. A sleep disorder called apnea, headaches, and a little surprising is obesity. The lack of oxygen can also result in a massive stroke.
Snoring has more impact on your body than you think. When someone snores heavily they often stop breathing for several seconds to as much as 10 seconds at which time you gag gasping for air. This event can disrupt your sleep and many people wake themselves up. This repeated deprivation of oxygen causes a number of things to happen to your body. As a person struggles to breathe, the blood pressure soars. This rise in blood pressure damages the carotid arteries lining the sides of the neck. The injured sites attract cholesterol and calcium that stick to them, amassing into calcified plaque. This further compounds to block the flow of blood to the brain. The result may be a massive stroke.
A team at the University of California at Los Angeles School of Dentistry made the following examination. The team took x-rays of the necks of 47 males suffering from bad cases of snoring. Then they compared this to x-rays of 900 men who did not suffer from snoring. The results are frightening: 21% (10 of the 47) of the men suffering from snoring had hardened blockages in their carotid arteries compared to only 2.5% of the men not suffering from snoring. There are several other problems associated with snoring, including headaches, apnea and obesity. These all result from a lack of oxygen to the brain.
Christian Goodman, after suffering from heavy snoring for 20 years, discovered a way to eliminate snoring permanently. He outlines 7 distinct non-invasive painless procedures to reverse the symptoms that cause snoring. All this without having to undertake dangerous surgery: dental implants or having to buy and use drugs everyday. We probably have not yet gotten to the bottom of how serious it can be to have our breathing passages blocked over and over again during the night. Think about it. It's like having someone pressing a pillow over your face.
In short: snoring can kill you.
